How four hours turn into 15 minutes
Take a typical package with hotel pickup at around ten. The drive from the city up to San Félix and the climb over the steps to the launch take a good part of the morning. At the top there is a briefing and then a wait for your turn, which depends on the wind and on how many pilots are free; one unhappy reviewer spent close to seven hours on a four-hour trip because there were too few pilots that day. One reviewer waited about an hour for the wind to turn. The flight follows, then the walk back, the video handover and the drive down. On a flight-only booking such as ParapenteSanFelix the hour on the listing covers just the part at the launch, and the ride is up to you.

Why reviewers report less than the listing
The minutes on a listing are a target. Some reviewers report flights of as little as 8 minutes, and one found the drive long compared with the time in the air. How long a pilot can stay up depends on the air on the day, and the pilot makes that call. A longer option does not change the weather, so treat 20 or 30 minutes as what the pilot aims for, and ask at the launch what happens if conditions cut it short.
What you see with more time
From the launch the Aburrá Valley opens to the east, with Bello and the north of Medellín below. One passenger of ParapenteSanFelix was given the choice between gliding over a waterfall and over the city. Ask before take-off which route your pilot plans and whether the longer option changes it.
Longer is also colder
At around 2,400 metres the air is already cool, and in flight the wind makes it feel colder. Twenty or thirty minutes in a harness is comfortable with a jacket and less so without one. If you get queasy easily, ask the pilot to skip the spins at the end; several reviewers mention feeling sick after them, and they come out of the same minutes you paid for. What to bring is on our page about what to wear.
